Erick Peres

Erick Peres (born 1994), a visual artist, currently resides in São Paulo. In his research, he employs authorial images, archives, image interventions, and texts, interweaving literature, fiction, and image. Through the emotional landscape of his neighborhood and popular culture, he navigates between memory and the present, filling the gaps of flawed memory with autofiction chronicles. He organizes the discord around him – twisted novels, abrupt endings, and a mutilated genealogy with its absences reconstructed by the hands of those at the centers of the margins. Recently, he participated and held exhibitions at MAM RIO, MIS SP, PIVO, Paço das Artes, UERJ, Goethe Institute, Galleria d'arte Moderna Italia - Catania, etc. In 2023, he published the book "O Choro pode durar uma Noite mas a Alegria vem pela Manhã" (Crying may last for a night but joy comes in the morning) through Lovely House and Selo Turvo publishers. The book was awarded in the ZUM/IMS 2023 photo book call, ZUM Magazine, and the Photography Library of the Instituto Moreira Salles.
